Nils Bohr was approached by a colleague who praised him for his precise equations, equations
which hit right on Rydberg's constant, to the final decimal. Bohr is reported to have responded,
"Of course. I made it come out that way." To put it another way: the constant does not confirm
Bohr's atomic theory in that he made his data conform to the constants he knew about. A
beautiful little bombshell.
