This is the obituary of D. Ewen Cameron in this journal which published a good deal of his work.
There is not a word here of anything wrong, of any scandal concerning Cameron or his treatment
of patients. Quite the contrary, as befits an obituary, there are nothing spoken ill of him.
His accomplishments are noted in several ways. He was the author of 6 published books and one
at his publisher's at the time of his death. He published 157 papers. He was president of the
following: American Psychiatric Association, Canadian Psychiatric Association, World
Psychiatric Association, American Psychopathological Association, and the Society of Biological
Psychiatry. He won several awards in his lifetime: Adolf Meyer Memorial Award, Samuel Rubin
Award for Outstanding Achievement in Mental Health, the Montreal Mental Hygiene Institute
Award, and the Page One Award.
The obit testifies to Cameron's warm and friendly personality, his love of the Adirondacks, his
strong attachment to the Lake Placid area.
