Benefits of Abaniko
With its scientific name belamcanda chinensis and English names Leopard Lily, Blackberry Lily, and Leopard Lily, abaniko has been known to be the primary material for making the infamous abaniko hand fan. But aside from this, abaniko has also its powers for healing diseases.
It can be used as expectorant as well as an antidote to snakebites. It is also used to purify blood and treatments for liver and pulmonary complaints. Its roots contain several medically active constituents including flavonoids and isoflavanoid. Abaniko is analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, depurative, pectoral, purgative, stomachic and tonic. In China, abaniko is one of their traditional medicines. They use abaniko to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, cough, wheezing, bronchitis and mumps, as well as tumors on the face and breast.
