Benefits of Abuhab-baging

Comes with scientific names strophanthus dischotomous, and strophanthus erectus, abuhab- baging is an endemic specie found in the low and medium forests of Cagayan, Abra, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Batangas, Rizal, Cavite, Bataan, Laguna, Sorsogon, Palawan, Leyte, Negros, and Mindanao.

Abuhab-baging is characterized as a woody vine which is erect and shrub-like when young, but can be stout when matured. Its leaves can grow from 8 to 15 centimeters long. Its Calyx lobes are slender which can grow from 7 to 9 millimeters long. Its tube is white which can grow up to 2 centimeters long with lobes that are about 8 millimeters wide and 1 centimeter long. Fruit is a doublefollicle, woody, oblong-ovoid, about 16 centimeters long and 7 centimeters in diameter. Fruits contain numerous elongated seeds. In the Philippines, bark is employed as an effective arrow-poison.
