Benefits of Adelfa
Adelfa, also known as Nerium indicum Mill. (scientific name), is found throughout the Philippines in cultivation. These plants were introduced by Spaniards. It is a native plant of subtropical or Tropical Asia. It is now a pantropic plant.
Adelfa leaves and flowers are considered cardiotonic, diaphoretic, diuretic, emetic and expectorant. Whole plant believed to have anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti bacterial, sedating, and anthelmintic effects. Neriin and oleandrin pharmacologic actions resemble those of digitalis glucosides. It has been also reported that biological activities include anti-inflammatory, sedative, anti-bacterial, cardiac, anti- neoplastic and anthelmintic.
