Benefits of African Daisy
African Daisy (Gerbera jamesonii H. Bolus ex Hook. f.) belong to a very large family of flowering plants which is Asteraceae. It has various English names such as Gerbera daisy, Transvaal daisy, or Barbeton daisy. It is labeled as tufted perennial herb, can live for more than two years. The flowers have both male and female organs which can be pollinated by insects and the plant is self-fertile.
It is widely cultivated in the Philippines, grows well in the garden or in containers. The plant is known because of its healing properties, active ingredients are found in all parts of the plants. For medicinal uses, fresh or dried flower heads are used same with its leaves. Its extract is also used for cosmetic and bath preparations.
