Benefits of Agusais
With the scientific name setaria palmifolia, agusais is also known as palm grass and broadleaved bristle grass. It is known to originate in China, but is also grown in southern Japan, Taiwan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.
Grain of the grass is sometimes use as a rice substitute, while its tender shoots is eaten as vegetable in Malaya. It is believed that its decoction is used to treat irregular menses. Furthermore, it is used in magic spells and rituals in New Guinea to cast out demons.
