Benefits of A las doce
With the scientific name bauhinia malabarica, it is also known as lilac bauhina and/or Malabar orchid. It is known to grow in India, Indo-China, Java, and Timor. Here in the Philippines, it commonly grows on open, dry slopes, in regions with long dry seasons in Luzon (from Ilocos Norte to Laguna).
Alambangbang is considered digestive, antidysenteric, emmenagogue, antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, pectoral, atomachic, anthelmintic, and antiperiodic. It is also an excellent source of calcium and iron. It is usually used in the Philippines as flavoring for meat and fish.
