Benefits of Alibuñgog
With the scientific names ehretia philippinensis and ehretia beurreria, this plant is endemic in the Philippines. It is usually grown in thickets and forests at low and medium altitudes from the Babuyan Islands and Northern Luzon to Palawan and Mindanao.
Its effects involve counter-irritant, emollient, anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhea, and anti-dysenteric. Poultice of bark and stem scraped into a pulp are applied to painful and inflamed areas as a relief. It can also be applied to areas of painful and swollen joints, facial inflammation, post-traumatic swellings, inflamed swollen hangnail and cellulitis.
