Benefits of Alim
With the scientific name melanolepis multiglandulosa, this plant is also known as Mo lin in Chinese. It commonly grows in thickets and secondary forests throughout the Philippines with low to medium altitudes. It also grows in Indo-China, Taiwan, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, New Guinea, and the Marianne Islands.
It is known to have sudorific, vermifuge, and antiviral effect. In the Philippines, slightly heated Alim bark leaves and flowers are applied to the skin as sudorific for chest pains and fever. It can also be used as dye through its ashen old leaves mixed with Bixa orellana.
