Benefits of Ambal
Ambal, also known as Mamangal, has a scientific name of Pycnarrhena manillensis Vidal, is a climbing shrub with a crowded, small and yellowing flowers. It is common in thickets and forest at low and medium altitudes in some Luzon provinces of the Philippines such as Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Quezon, Laguna, Batangas and Sorsogon Provinces. Also found in southern part such as Alabat, Samar, Leyte, Negros and Mindanao.
Both roots and stems of Ambal are used as medicinal plants. Ambal is used as cicatrizant, vulnerary which is known for wound healing. The powdered roots are used to treat cholera and other intestinal diseases. In addition, it is used for fever and to stimulate menstruation.
