Benefits of Apoi-apoian
With its scientific name gynandropsis gynandra, this plant is also known as spider flower, cat’s whiskers,and bastard mustard in English. This plant is pantropic often grows in waste places, especially near the sea at low and medium altitudes.
Apoi-apoian has febrifuge, antispasmodic, sudorific, anthelmintic, carminative, rubefacient, and vesicant effects. The whole plant can be made into an ointment which is applied to postural eruptions of the skin, cutaneous diseases, most especially leprosy. Leaf juice is used to treat earache, otorrhea, and other ear infections. Decoction of seeds can also be used to wash piles, rheumatism, and malarial disorders.
