Benefits of Asistasia
With its scientific name justicia gangetica, this plant is also known as the Chinese violet, coromandel, creeping foxglove, and purple primrose in English. It is often cultivated in Manila and Los Baños usually in thickets near towns at a low altitude. It is also grown in tropical Africa, Asia and Malaya.
Asistasia has astringent, anthelmintic, antidiabetic, anti-asthmatic, anti-inflammatory, and vermifuge effect. In the Philippines, its leaves and flowers are used as intestinal astringent. In some places, its infusion is used to relieve the pain during childbirth. It is also used as treatments in swelling, rheumatism, gonorrhea, and ear disease.
