Benefits of Asparagus fern
With its scientific name asparagus setaceus, this plant is also known as climbing asparagus fern, climbing feather fern, common asparagus fern, feather fern, or ornamental asparagus in English. It is known to be native in Africa and is cultivated in most warm countries. It has been recently introduced in the Philippines and is now cultivated as an ornament.
It is known to have antimalarial and diuretic effects. In some places, asparagus fern decoction is used to treat pulmonary infections while cold infusion leaves and stem is used as a treatment for malaria. Asparagus fern root tubers mixed with boiled milk and sugar is used to cure dysentery and diarrhea.
