Benefits of Badiara
With its scientific name coleus atropurpureus, this plant is also known as Lapunaya in Bisaya, Malaina in Pampango, and Mayana in Tagalog. It is cultivated mostly for ornamental and medicinal purposes. Its leaves, stems, and roots are used as treatments for several conditions.
The poultice of Badiara leaves are applied to bruises and contusions. Decoction of its stems is also used to stimulate digestion and relieve pain associated with the heart, congestion of the liver and swollen hands and feet. Moreover, its roots are used to treat colic and diarrhea.
