Benefits of Bagilumbang
Bagilumbang is also known as Philippine tung tree or Lumbang tree, a scientific name Aleurites saponaria Blanco, belongs to Euphorbiaceae family. Widely scattered in forests at low and medium altitudes in La Union, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, and Camarines Provinces in Luzon; in Negros; and in Mindanao.It is a tree growing to a height of 10 to 15 meters or more.
Aside from this, its seeds is a strong purgative and the bark sap is used as a cure for scurf (dandruff); also used as hair tonic, seeds are used to extract oil and in traditional medicine. And also, the oil yielded by the seeds was formerly employed in the Philippines for the production of a weak soap which was in demand among sailors owing to its property of lathering in sea water.
