Benefits of Bakauan babae
This tree is popularly known as “Asiatic Mangrove” or “Stilt Mangrove” in English with a scientific name Rhizophora mucronat. As its name implies, it is commonly found in tropical shores just like the country Philippines. Well, it is prominently seen in mangrove swamps throughout the Philippines. Also, in Asia, it is reported in Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. However, it can also be found in some places like Australia, New Guinea and Madagascar.
Although, bakauan babae is very useful as both wood and fuel, some even use it for tanning and dyeing, but it is also useful as herbal medicine. In fact, it is use for hematuria, diabetes, angia, boils and fungal infections. Its leaves and bark are also use as antiseptic for some illness such as diarrhea, dysentery, fever, malaria and leprosy.
