Benefits of Balabat
Balabat is also known as Licuala Spinosa Wurmb (scientific name). The plant is native to the moist areas of southeast Asia. These are mostly found in seashores, back of mangroves in brackish mud. Grows wild in thickets at low altitudes. They are cultivated for ornamental purposes.
Leaves, fruits and barks are used by Muruts of Sabah as antidote for snake bite. Infusion of roots or decoction of bark of the plant is used for treating fever.
