Benefits of Agor
With its scientific name fimbristylis miliacea, it is also known as glober fringerish and grass-like fimbry in English. Agor is known to grow in countries on South and South East Asia such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. It can also be found in other parts of the world such as Ecuador, Madagascar, Nicaragua, Peru, and Suriname.
Agor is considered as a competitor to rice because it competes with the nutrient absorption. It can spread vigorously between rice roots. Malays use its leaves for poulticing in fever while tribe in central India uses the roots for dysentery.
