Benefits of Aratiles
With its scientific name muntingia calabura, this plant is also known as calabur tree, cherry tree, panama tree, or silk wood in English. It is believed that aratiles is introduced to the Philippines from tropical America but has been naturalized and is now widely grown in and about towns. There are also reports showing that aratiles also grows in Thailand and Java.
This plant is known to have antispasmodic and emollient effect. Decoction of its flowers is used to treat abdominal cramps. Fresh flowers are also used as antiseptics to treat spasms. Aratiles is also used to relieve colds and headaches.
