Benefits of Aurorang-gubat
With its scientific name ipomoea digitata, this plant is also known as finger-leaf morning glory and wild yam root in English. It grows in thickets along the seashores of La Union, Bulacan, Bataan, Rizal, Culion, Coron and Mindanao at low altitudes. It is sometimes cultivated for its flowers and shade.
Aurorang-gubat has purgative, aphrodisiac, galactagogue, mucilaginous, tonic, nervine, diuretic, spermatogenic, anti-inflammatory, and lactagogue effects. It is believed that it can cure conditions such as uterine pain, sexual debility, infertility, lactation, hepato-splenomegaly, gastric ulcer, and ulcerative colitis.
