Benefits of Banaba
Banaba also known as Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers. (scientific name) are mostly found in islands and provinces, chiefly in secondary forests at low and medium altitudes. Areas in Bataan Islands and northern Luzon to Palawan,Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago. It is cultivated in Manila for its beautiful flowers. It makes an excellent avenue tree. There are also occurrence of this plant in India to southern China and southward through Malaya to tropical Australia.
Banaba leaves are bright orange or red during which time it is thought to contain higher levels of corosolic acid. Old leaves and ripe fruit are considered to yield the greatest amount of insulin-like principle. Roots and barks are considered astringent, stimulant, febrifuge.
