Benefits of Banaro
Commonly known as “Beach Gardenia” or “Zebra wood” in English, Banaro, is a tree with 5 to 15 meters high. It has a scientific name of Guettarda speciosa. This tree is known as Pantropic which means it always occur along seashore, sea cliffs, beach thickets and low land forests. In fact, it usually scattered along the seashore throughout the Philippines. Also, it is widely distributed from East Africa to India and through Malaysia to the South Pacific.
Its flowers are very fragrant which opens in the evening and fall before dawn. Aside from this feature, it is also considered as herbal medicine. The ethanol extract of its inner bark is effective for anti-diarrheal, and can induce seizures (Anti-seizure). Moreover, it is also effective as antibacterial, antifungal, antiepileptic and antioxidant.
