Benefits of Kamokamotihan

It is typically known as “Ivy-leaf morning glory” in English. This plant has a scientific name Ipomoea hederacea. It is believed to be native of tropical America, but pantropic. This plant is usually found in thickets and waste places at low and medium altitudes and in some forms, it is cultivated for their flowers. In Philippines, it is often seen in Abra, Lepanto, Bontoc, and Rizal Provinces in Luzon.

In some place, mostly in India, besides the resin, the plant includes an extract, tincture and compound powder. Also, roasted seeds are used as purgative, and the powdered seed are used for constipation. In China, seeds are used as diuretic, antihelmintic and used to promote menstruation.
