Benefits of Tagbak-babae
Tagbak-babae (Alpinia malaccensis), is a member of Zingiberaceae family. The herbaceous plant is also known as Ring Malacca. It commonly grows in primary forests all over the Philippines almost in all islands and provinces.
Alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, carbohydrates, tannins, saponins and glycosides were found from the leaf extract. Parts that are used for medicinal purposes are fruits and seeds. A decoction made from the fruit or crushed seeds are used in cases of gastralgia with tympanitis.
